RecreationalRecreational dance refers to any form of dancing which is done for pure enjoyment and not as preparation for a professional performance or a teaching career. However, as dance teachers are quick to point out, the line between professional and recreational is not always easy to draw. Children introduced to dance for its social and physical benefits sometimes choose later to become professional dancers. Many adults devote a great deal of their free time to perfecting their dancing skills, and reach "professional" levels of expertise.
