Deanna Romano is a passionate dance educator, performer, and teacher with a Bachelor of Education from York University, with Intermediate/Senior (I/S) teachables in Dance and French. She previously completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Specialized Honours in Dance, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2024.
Deanna has been part of the Performing Dance Arts family since 2013, first as a student and now as a faculty member, making PDA a truly special and lasting part of her dance journey. Throughout her academic career, she has been recognized for her achievements in both dance and academics, receiving the York University Automatic Entrance Scholarship, Talent Entrance Scholarship, IMASCO Performing Arts Award, Grant Strate Award in Dance, and Dance Department Award. She was also named to the York University Circle of Scholars and completed the ADAPT Teacher Training Program Certification in 2022.
During her time at York University, Deanna was a member and Captain of the York Lions Dance Energy team for three years, where she continued to pursue dance while developing her leadership, mentorship, and performance skills.
Deanna is currently a teacher with the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) and continues to share her passion for dance at Performing Dance Arts. She strives to create a positive and encouraging environment where dancers can build confidence, develop their technique, express their creativity, and most importantly, develop a lifelong love for dance.
