Toronto, Canada (PRWEB), November 4, 2014 – Performing Dance Arts (www.PerformingDanceArts.ca), Toronto’s leading dance studio for children of all skill levels, is responding to the recent Toronto Star article about the success of former student Clyde Alves.
Alves is starring as Ozzie in a revival of a past Broadway hit, On the Town. The musical just opened last week, with Alves admitting that “it can’t get any better than this.” Prior to his starring role, Alves appeared in Wicked, Hairspray, Oklahoma, and A Chorus Line. He’s also done some TV work appearing in The Music Man, which was shot primarily in Toronto. “Clyde is just one of those special dancers who used his talents to create opportunities for himself,” says Ashley Daychak, artistic director at Performing Dance Arts. “The students we currently have taking our dance lessons in Maple can really take cues from him and how he was able to attain a high level of success.”
Alves claims he was unsure of if he wanted to sing, dance, or act growing up, but that once he found musicals, he realized that all three were possible. He adds that audiences have gone “crazy with joy every night” for his current role, which surely keeps him motivated.
“When we provide these dance lessons for children, we always hope for the best, but to imagine a former student playing a major role in a Broadway musical hit is just incredible,” Daychak concludes. “We’re so proud of Clyde and wish him the very best.”
